what we believe

Curiosity is the curriculum

Jigyaasa means the desire to know. Everything here is built around protecting that instinct rather than drilling it out.

🧩

Learning through play

Blocks, sand, water and story become the tools for early maths and language. Children are busy playing; the learning happens anyway.

🤝

Growing together

Sharing, waiting a turn, comforting a friend. The quiet everyday moments where confidence and kindness take root.

🎨

Room to create

Paint-covered hands welcome. Open-ended art, music and movement let every child say something only they could say.

a note from our founder

Dear Parents,

Every child is born curious. When a little one asks why for the hundredth time, they are telling us they are ready to learn. Jigyaasa was started to protect that curiosity and help it grow.

We wanted a preschool where children feel safe, loved and excited to walk in every morning, and where parents are true partners in their child’s journey. Our teachers and caregivers bring that warmth to each of our three centres in Wakad, Baner and Ravet.

Here we celebrate small wins, welcome big questions and give children the confidence to explore the world at their own pace.

Thank you for considering Jigyaasa for these precious early years. We would love to welcome your family.

Warm regards,

Shraddha Bhat

A hundred questions before lunch

Magnifying glasses, leaves, a jar of rainwater. We follow the question wherever it goes — because that's where the thinking is.

programs

A room that fits, at every age

Six programmes, from a baby who still needs a parent in the room to a twelve-year-old who needs somewhere safe after school. Each one has its own curriculum, its own room and its own rhythm.

6 months to 2 years

Parent Toddler

You come too. A short, unhurried session where your child meets other babies, tries messy play and music, and takes first steps away from your lap with you still in the room. Parents learn to read early milestones up close and leave with things to try at home. Runs at our Wakad and Baner centres.

  • Parent attends with child
  • Sensory & messy play
  • Music and movement
  • First social contact
2 to 3 years

Playgroup

The first proper morning without a parent, made gentle. Children learn to hang up a bag, wash their own hands, take turns and say what they want. Language, early numbers and self-help skills come through rhyme, sand, water, dough and a great deal of repetition.

  • Self-help & independence
  • Fine and gross motor play
  • Language through rhyme
  • Learning to share
3 to 4 years

Nursery

Concepts arrive through imagination rather than worksheets. A theme runs through the month, so the same idea turns up in a story, a song, a craft and a game. Children begin working in small groups and start making choices about what they do next.

  • Thematic monthly units
  • Independent learning
  • Creative thinking
  • 3 hr 30 min morning
4 to 5 years

Junior KG

Reading readiness in earnest: phonics, sight words, letter formation and listening for sounds inside words. Maths moves from counting to reasoning, with sorting, patterns and simple problems. There is still room every day for art, movement and talk.

  • Phonics & early reading
  • Logical reasoning
  • Problem solving
  • 4 hr morning
5 to 6 years

Senior KG

The bridge to big school. Children write, read simple text, handle number work with confidence and sit with a task long enough to finish it. Just as important, they can ask for help, manage a disagreement and walk into a new room without fear.

  • Early literacy & numeracy
  • Focus and stamina
  • Confidence for Grade 1
  • School-readiness
6 months to 12 years

Daycare

Not supervision with a television on. Daycare has its own age-appropriate curriculum, an in-house kitchen, an in-house library and a caretaker-to-child ratio that starts at 2:1 for the youngest. Open 8am to 8pm with flexible hourly and monthly plans, from 2 hours a day.

move, every day

Some things are learned on the move

Running, jumping, dancing and painting with the whole arm. Big movement builds big brains, so the activity hall is part of the classroom.

🤸 Play is serious work
what we stand for

Our vision, in plain words

Vision

To provide a safe, stimulating and age-appropriate learning environment in conjunction with a quality educational curriculum for the holistic development of all children.

Mission

To adopt a holistic approach that enables each child to develop their social, physical, emotional and intellectual abilities. Each child is unique, and positive early childhood experiences shape everything that follows.

The curriculum, and why it looks like play

We use a Whole Child approach that develops a child’s cognitive, physical, social-emotional and creative abilities. Rather than buying one method off the shelf, our curriculum borrows from six:

  • Montessori
  • Waldorf Steiner
  • Play-Based
  • Reggio Emilia
  • Multiple Intelligences
  • Japanese — manners before knowledge

Each month, teachers work on seven learning domains:

Personal, social & emotionalPhysical & motor Communication, language & literacyKnowledge of the world MathematicalCreativeIntellectual & cognitive

How a Jigyaasa month is planned

Nothing in the day is accidental. One theme anchors the month, and it fans out across every strand — so a four‑year‑old meets the same idea in a story, a letter, a number game, a value and something they do with their body. Here are two real months from our Playgroup planner, exactly as they went home to parents.

Where we sit in NEP 2020

The National Education Policy 2020 restructured school into 5+3+3+4, and put the Foundational Stage — ages 3 to 8 — at the base of the whole system. Those first three years are preschool. They are what we do.

FoundationalAges 3–8
Nursery · Jr. KG · Sr. KGGrades 1–2
You are here
PreparatoryGrades 3–5
MiddleGrades 6–8
SecondaryGrades 9–12
NEP asks for play‑based, activity‑based and discovery‑based learning→No worksheets in Playgroup. Sand, dough, role‑play, movement and a theme children can touch.
Foundational literacy and numeracy before Grade 3→Phonics, letter sounds and counting with meaning, introduced a few letters and one number at a time.
Mother tongue and multilingual exposure→Hindi Masti Time sits in the daily schedule alongside English, from Junior KG.
Learning through the arts, sport and values→Art, rhyme, sport and a named value of the month are planned strands, not extras.

Maharashtra is now phasing in matching minimum ages for pre‑primary and Class 1, which is why we built an admission age checker into this page.

What children actually leave with

Language

Listening, talking, a growing vocabulary in more than one language, phonics and early reading.

Number sense

Counting with meaning, sorting, patterns, comparison and simple reasoning — not rote tables.

Motor skills

Gross motor through climbing, running and balance; fine motor through beads, dough, scissors and pencil grip.

Social & emotional

Naming feelings, waiting a turn, settling a disagreement, asking an adult for help.

Independence

Shoes, bag, bottle, toilet, tidying up. The unglamorous skills that decide how big school feels.

Curiosity

The habit of asking a second question after the first one is answered. The whole point.

What every centre has

🛡️Safe & secure

Skilled, trained and verified staff. Mandatory staff medical check-ups. Full-time security.

🧼Clean & hygienic

Maximum emphasis on cleanliness, clean floors and child-friendly toilets.

📹CCTV surveillance

Cameras across the centre, with child-friendly, safe infrastructure throughout.

🍳In-house kitchen

Healthy food cooked on site, in our own hygienic kitchen, on a nutritionist-planned menu.

🩺Doctor on call

Half-yearly medical check-ups for every child, with doctors on call.

🎨Theme-based classes

Themed classrooms that help children settle into a new environment quickly.

🔤Phonics Fun

The alphabet introduced through easy songs and engaging animation.

🎭Stage exposure

Regular stage time, plus parent participation programmes through the year.

daycare

A home away from home, 8am to 8pm

For children from 6 months to 12 years. Daycare at Jigyaasa runs on its own curriculum, in its own rooms, with its own kitchen. Parents working a full day should not have to choose between a job and a child who is thriving.

🕒8am to 8pm

Twelve hours, so an early shift or a late meeting is not a crisis. Flexible hourly and monthly plans, from 2 hours a day.

👶6 months to 12 years

From infants who still nap twice a day to school children who need somewhere to land at 3pm.

🤝Ratio from 2:1

Caretaker-to-child ratio starts at 2:1 for the youngest, so an infant is never one of a crowd.

🥗Healthy meal packages

Breakfast, lunch and snacks cooked in our own kitchen, on a menu built for growing children.

📚In-house library

A real library the children borrow from, not a shelf. Reading time is part of the day, not a filler.

🎨Age-appropriate activities

Each age group has its own plan. The eight-year-old is not doing the toddler's craft.

📹CCTV surveillance

Cameras across the daycare floor, with a secured campus and controlled entry and exit.

📲Timely updates

Photos and notes through the day, so you know how lunch went before you ask at bedtime.

Flexible timings. Tell us the hours you actually need and we will build the plan around them.

“We are very happy with our experience at Jigyaasa International Preschool & Daycare, Wakad. My daughter is currently studying in Nursery, and we have seen a positive change in her confidence, learning, and overall development. The teachers and staff are very caring, approachable, and attentive towards the children. We especially appreciate the way they make learning fun and engaging rather than putting pressure on the kids.”

parent partnership

The questions you are actually asking

If yours is not here, ask Jiggy at the bottom right, or just call the centre.

What ages do you take?
Parent Toddler from 6 months (at Wakad and Baner), Playgroup from 2 years, then Nursery, Jr. KG and Sr. KG. Daycare runs alongside all of them, for children from 6 months to 12 years.
What are the timings?
All three centres, Wakad, Baner and Ravet, are open 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 5pm on Saturday. Morning batches start at 9:00 am: Playgroup until 12:00 noon, Nursery until 12:30 pm (12:00 noon at Baner), Junior KG until 1:00 pm, and Senior KG until 1:00 pm (12:30 pm at Baner). Wakad and Baner also run some afternoon batches, and daycare covers the full day. Batch timings are set per centre, so confirm yours when you book a visit.
Are you open on Saturday?
Yes. All three centres, Wakad, Baner and Ravet, are open 9am to 5pm on Saturday for daycare and the office, and closed on Sunday. Saturday daycare is by prior booking. On weekdays they are open 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday.
How does daycare work?
Hourly, weekly or monthly, from a minimum of 2 hours a day. It is not a holding room: there is a structured curriculum, an in-house kitchen, and coordinators who talk to you about how the day went. Children can move straight from their preschool session into daycare. Saturday daycare is by prior booking. Ratios are the same at all three centres: one caregiver to 2 infants, 1 to 4 from 19 months to 3 years, 1 to 6 for 3 to 5 years, and 1 to 15 for 5 to 12 years.
Do you take babies in daycare?
Yes. Daycare at Wakad, Baner and Ravet takes children from 6 months, and for the youngest babies the ratio is one caregiver to two children. Daycare is open 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 5pm on Saturday. Ask the centre what to send from home for your baby when you visit.
What about food?
Cooked on site in our own kitchen, with maximum emphasis on hygiene. Parents consistently describe it as home-quality. Tell us about allergies and preferences when you enrol.
What are the daycare meal times?
On the optional daycare meal plan, breakfast is at 10:15 am, lunch at 1:00 pm and snacks at 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm, all cooked in the centre’s own kitchen. If you skip the plan, ask the centre what to send from home.
Is the centre safe?
CCTV across the centre, full-time security, child-friendly infrastructure, and staff who are trained, verified and medically checked. Children get a half-yearly medical check-up and we have doctors on call.
Who can pick up my child?
Only an adult carrying your child’s Jigyaasa escort card, at all three centres. If someone new will collect your child, talk to the centre before that day.
Do you provide transport?
Yes, each centre runs a van. Ask the centre for routes.
How do I know what my child did today?
Daily updates and photos through our parent app, plus regular feedback from the class teacher and parent participation programmes through the year.
Which curriculum do you follow?
Our own Whole Child curriculum, aligned to the NEP 2020 Foundational Stage. It borrows from six approaches: Montessori, Waldorf Steiner, play-based learning, Reggio Emilia, Multiple Intelligences and the Japanese idea of manners before knowledge. Each month one theme runs across seven learning domains, and every family gets the month’s planner at the start of the month. Jigyaasa is an English-medium preschool, not a CBSE, ICSE or state-board school.
How do you help a new child settle in?
Classrooms are theme-based, which helps children settle into a new environment quickly, and Playgroup has no worksheets: children learn through sand, dough, role-play, movement and a theme they can touch. Talk to the team about your child when you visit.
What is the admission process?
Book a centre visit, come and see a morning in progress, meet the team, and fill in the admission form. Admissions for 2027-28 are open now at Wakad, Baner and Ravet. Ask about Jiggy Early-Bird at your visit. Mid-year places for 2026-27 depend on space in your child’s age group, and daycare admissions are open all year.
What are the fees?
Fees vary by centre, programme and the hours you need, so we would rather give you the exact figure for your child than a number that turns out not to apply. Call the centre or ask during your visit.
Which class can my child join in 2027-28?
Maharashtra counts the minimum age as on 30 June: 3+ for Nursery from 2027-28, 4+ for Junior KG from 2028-29, 5+ for Senior KG from 2029-30 and 6+ for Class 1 from 2030-31, under the Government Resolution dated 15 October 2026. Enter your child’s date of birth in the admission age checker above to see the class for your year.
Where are your centres?
Three centres in Pune, each with its own team, kitchen and phone: Wakad (Pristine Arcade, next to Pristine Prolife 1), Baner (Maruti Chowk, opposite Rahul Arcus main gate, Baner Annex) and Ravet (Bhalchandra Vihar, S.B.
